چکیده

background: the aim of this study was to determine the incidence of azf (azoospermia factor) microdeletions of the y chromosome in infertile turkish male patients and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (icsi) outcome of these patients. objective: this study was undertaken in order to evaluate the outcome of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (icsi) in infertil man with azf microdeletions materials and methods: we evaluated 348 azoospermic and oligozoospermic patients retrospectively. fourty of these patients had various types of azf microdeletions. these patients had non-obstructive severe oligoasthenospermia or azoospermia with normal karyotype. azoospermic patients underwent testicular sperm extraction and aspiration (tese, tesa). then icsi was performed to patients who had testicular sperm or ejeculat. results: fourty patients with azf microdeletion were evaluated in this study. no spermium could be found in 27 patients. three of these patients had only azfa microdeletion, three had azfb microdeletion, three had azf (b+c), six had azf (a+b+c) and 12 patients had azfc microdeletion. only two of all patients achieved a pregnancy and both had only azfc microdeletion. conclusion: azfc microdeletions have a better prognosis for achieving spermium in ejaculate or tese, tesa materials.

Y chromosome azoospermia factor region microdeletions and transmission characteristics in azoospermic and severe oligozoospermic patients.

Spermatogenesis is an essential reproductive process that is regulated by many Y chromosome specific genes. Most of these genes are located in a specific region known as the azoospermia factor region (AZF) in the long arm of the human Y chromosome. AZF microdeletions are recognized as the most frequent structural chromosomal abnormalities and are the major cause of male infertility. Assisted re...

Microdeletions of the Y chromosome and intracytoplasmic sperm injection: from gene to clinic.

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a successful treatment option for severe male infertility, although the aetiology of the disorder remains unclear in most cases. Recently, microdeletions in the AZF region of the Y chromosome have been detected in men with azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia. In this study we investigated the prevalence of microdeletions in the AZF region of the Y ch...

Investigation of AZF microdeletions in patients with Klinefelter syndrome.

We investigated azoospermia region microdeletions in male infertility patients with Klinefelter syndrome (KFS), as well as the association between azoospermia symptoms in patients with KFS and Y chromosome microdeletion polymorphisms. A total of 111 cases with male infertility confirmed to have KFS (47, XXY) and 94 fertile men were included in this study. Peripheral blood was drawn and DNA was ...

Prevalence and patterns of Y chromosome microdeletion in infertile men with azoospermia and oligzoospermia in Northeast China

BACKGROUND In some cases infertile men showed small deletions of specific genes in the Y chromosome. It had been confirmed, these deleted genes are greatly associated with spermatogenic failure. However, the frequency and the patterns of such microdeletions among infertile men are not clearly clarified. OBJECTIVE We sought to determine the frequency and the patterns of Y chromosome microdelet...

Prospective assessment of Y-chromosome microdeletions and reproductive outcomes among infertile couples of Japanese and African origin

BACKGROUND To compare the frequency of Y-chromosome microdeletions in Japanese and African azoospermic and oligozoospermic men and describe embryo characteristics and reproductive outcome following in vitro fertilization (IVF) with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). METHODS Our study was performed prospectively at two centers, a private IVF clinic and a university hospital. Japanese and...

multiplex pcr based screening for microdeletions in azoospermia factor region of y chromosome in azoospermic and severe oligozoospermic south indian

background: y chromosomal microdeletion is an important genetic disorder, which may arise due to intrachromosomal recombination between homologous sequences in the male specific region of the human y chromosome. it is frequently associated with the quantitative reduction of sperm. the screening for y chromosomal microdeletions has a great clinical value. objective: to develop a sequence tagged ...
